The neonatal resuscitation certification program is a collaborative effort by the American Heart Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). The first course was offered in 1987 to 23 participants at the national AAP conference in New Orleans, La. It is now an internationally renowned educational program with more than 25,000 active instructors and more than 1.9 million providers. The course NRP is based on 4 principles: Evidenced-based medicine: Problem-based learning format: Experience to enhance the learners's self-efficacy: and that Effective teamwork is essential for a successsful resuscitation. The Provider course is designed for health care professionals involved in any aspect of neonatal resuscitation. Drs. Vincent Killeen, Steve Berlin, and Leo Eschbach successfully completed the 4 hour course this June.
